Crash The Crease opened in August 2008, we just turned 1! We cover all the daily hockey news, breaking stories etc.. I am in the process of putting together a team of 30 NHL team bloggers to go along with myself and the other co-owners who cover the content for the website. On top of that we have a weekly online radio show from 3:30 to 5:30, coming this September we will launch 3 more websites with their own radio weekly shows. We are getting into videos as well for this upcoming season. With those new sites and shows that will go along with Crash The Crease they will all fold into Tudor Sports, our Sports Federation. www.crashthecrease.com/Hopefully everyone has taken a look at the site, we aim to be a premiere hockey site for the future!. I'd be interested to hear about all of your sites as well.

My blog started in May-ish, after doing the Ducks/Wings miniblog at CLS. I started it, and then didn't do much with it because as the Wings kept rolling, I kept posting Wings-centric stuff at CLS. My own blog isn't really too Wings-centric, as I find the game and league as a whole much more interesting. Plus, its hard to catch Wings games in Denver, especially with my work hours. I enjoy writing, and can go back and forth all day long on hockey subjects (ask James about that), but I find that writing on your own without anyone to prompt you at all is kinda hard. Like doing a radio show without a cohost, I guess. This problem is further compounded by the fact that the subject matter that I would discuss has already been hashed out on From The Rink or MC79 or whatever, so its kinda hard to post something that isn't just parroting what's already been said. I definitely don't update often enough, but I like to think that when I do, its pretty decent. sacrificethebody.blogspot.com/

Great idea, guys. I recommend that everyone puts up something. If that happens I might even "re-print" them on the blogs.

Man I guess this means I have to write 2. Dammit.
Well BanginPanger.com got started up early last season, sometime in October I believe. It was an idea that started inkling when I was back at PSU, a whole 1 and a half years ago, from Yinzers constantly telling me how funny The Pensblog was. I naturally became defensive, saying "Whatever, anybody can be funny with photoshop and Bill Pullman." Hence later that year, in between projects at work, BanginPanger was born.
It was originally going to be simply a rant n rave against Eklund, taking a pragmatic look at the league as a whole, but then eventually evolved, or devolved rather, into taking to task the sport and league in which so many of us take far too seriously. Somewhere along the way it got relatively popular, I use the term relatively pretty generously. So much so in fact, that Greg Wyshynski, yes indeed, I have met, and drank with him, says I have "a brand name." Whatever the hell that means.
Somewhere along the way, based on whatever nonsensical writing style the editor thought was impressive, I was asked to start up a Sabres blog for the Fantasy website, Fanball.com. I took the opportunity, gee golly I get money to do it, and hence DoubleEdgedSabres.com (I didn't pick the name, it would've ended up being LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaFontaine.com if I'd have picked it, in hindsight, probably better they chose) was born.
So there you have it. Nothing special got me started, only vindictive hate of all things Pittsburgh and Eklund. But in reality, isn't that enough?

Back when I didn't work as much as I do now, I played roller hockey three, four nights a week for hours at a time. So much so that the guys at the rink started calling me Scotty Hockey. I used to be a writer way back when before I got into broadcasting and had occasionally sent out e-mail columns to friends and family with rants about the Rangers. Finally my best friend and my dad were able to talk me into starting up a blog and thus, Scotty Hockey was born in July '07.
It is self-titled because I don't pretend it is an objective news site; it is just a forum for me to unleash my obsessive True Blue opinions. The cornerstones of the site are the game recaps but I chime in about everything Ranger-related and some things that aren't. Regular readers know I prize hard work and heart over flash, I believe that there is a certain honour that goes with wearing the Blueshirt and I hate everything Islanders and Tom Poti.
Instead of advertising, I ask that readers donate money to charity. I've passed up offers to join several of the big box sites to keep my street cred (lol) but am quite thankful to have been asked. And I have much love and respect for those that have linked me or had me guest - from the NY Times Slap Shot to Puck Daddy to Cycle Like The Sedins and beyond.

I started Lighthouse Hockey for purely selfish reasons: The format of message boards makes my head hurt, and I really liked the SB Nation's template/user tools I saw on one of their baseball blogs. So I thought, "Man, if they had more hockey blogs, I'd waste a lot of time here." (At the time they had about five ... they've since ramped up to covering all 30 NHL teams thanks to recruiting James Mirtle.)
Naturally, I wanted them to have an Islanders blog. And I wanted it to have a "joy of hockey" tone crossed with realism, rather than an "everything is fucking miserable and I hate everything so let me just rant at how awful it all is" tone. So why not create it myself? To make sure I could handle daily posting with work and life demands, I did a year's run on a different network (who've since deleted my archives ... tossers). I moved to SBN at the beginning of last season, which allows me to just write and not worry about the tech stuff.
We do game previews, threads and recaps, etc., and I occasionally unleash one of my grand theories of B.S., but mostly it's just a place to chime in and have some banter on the Isles. I respect bloggers who are after traffic and media access and awards and the like, but that's really not my goal. I just want a neighborhood bar-type of site to shoot the breeze about hockey and the Isles, without having to babysit pissing matches and trolls. Like I said: purely selfish reasons.

We are releasing our 2009-2010 forecaster this weekend, also we will officially unveil our newest radio show along with its own website.
We will be doing live blogs probably 2-3 times a month throughout the season, with the same program Sportsnet and CBC use for hockey.
If anyone is ever interested in partnerships with us we are always willing to do so!

We released our 2009-2010 Season Forecaster this afternoon. If anyone is interested in checking it out, take a look www.crashthecrease.com/?p=6979Also if anyone would like to pass it on, that would be great and we would return the favor with your content. This season instead of a normal hockey pool with goals, assists, points etc.. we will be running a contest for people who join to attempt to pick the standings 1-5 from the East and West. I'll have more on that closer to the beginning of the season.
